    Need help choosing rings

    Hey all,

I am beginning to dip my toe into long distance shooting. I have previously participated in Appleseed events, shot a 600 yd clinic and a vintage iron sight match out to 500 meters.

I just purchased an Ashbury Precision Ordnance M700 saber in 6.5CM, along with a 1st gen Vortex Viper PST with the milradian reticle.

The scope is a 30mm one and I need some recommendations for rings. The rings will be mounted to a one piece Warne 20MOA base.

For storage and transport purposes, I would prefer a one-piece detachable setup. Is this kid of setup adequate for holding zero while being taken on and off of the rifle? Something with a throw lever would be nice. Would be nice to be able to take off the scope and bipod without tools.

I am trying to be very careful to set this rifle up just right before I take a class or two and get into the practice practice practice phase.

Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Get the shortest rings you can that still allow about .100 clearance from the end bell.
Any quality ring will do. For the money I prefer Leupold Mk4 rings or Warne rings
Stay away from tally in the short stuff.

There are certain pro's and con's with quality QD mounts. Quality mounts have proven to be reliable in repeat accuracy within 1/2 MOA. Some of the con's are: Height-they can only go so low. Price: ARMS, LaRue, SPURH, etc are going to be way more than a good set of rings.

Consider how much do you really need QD mounts for the slight convenience of storage and transport.

They make the base QR mounts for the TACOM Charlie and delta Tarac. I'm very impressed with the quality.
