Where would you go??

Just getting into longer shooting. Looking for a range in the central valley that I can shoot at. I have been using the range fresno rifle range for year. Thinking of Avenal or Coalinga. Any info? Thanks

I wish I lived close enough to visit Coalinga on a regular basis.

I've never been to Coalinga, but I've yet to run across anyone that has said anything bad about the range there. I've met some of the regulars down there, when the came up to Sac Val and they were a good group of people.

If competition is your thing ...Coalinga's match weekend(3rd of every month) is this weekend.3x6 Sat ,and xtc on Sun.
Sac next(2nd weekend of every month) month will a 3x6 on Sat ,and I believe a palma on Sun.

Never been there but I'd have to say Coalinga as well.

I currently drive two plus hours to BLM land in imperial valley

And it don't have range fees, range safety personnel or idiots with poor muzzle discipline. I can also camp at the range, have a nice fire at the range and if someone likes they can relax in the shade with a beer
There ain't a range that I know of where you can do that.

Guys down here in San Diego won't make the drive out there so it's pretty desolate even on a holiday weekend.
People are all ready to go until you tell them it's two hours away. That separates the men from the boys right there.

I drive past three public ranges to get where I shoot and don't have a problem doing it.

I've got a few spots that I frequent where no one else is around for the most part, I'm not shooting over roads, and have a very large hill as a backstop.

We can place steel silhouettes as far as you can shoot. 2000 meters you say no problem. And any range in between.

Did I mention I'm not a fan of public ranges nor private clubs.

There are those that do, and those that want to do, but do not put forth the effort.

I will burn a tank of gas and endure 115˚F+ temps to get my trigger time in. We do however keep the camping to the winter time.

Every few weeks in the winter and spring, I pass through Westmoreland on the way to Mexico.
I pushed this weekend's trip to next weekend if you want to go.
Leaving LA around 1pm friday May 29th and coming back Monday June 1st.
