looking for spec. Sten fake can

I would like to know how to make a fake silencer. What I'm worried about is legal issues then weight. Will a small tube just larger than the barrel on the inside of, a tube the same size as the receiver be ok? I figure this stops any chamber area. Next I would like the fake can to be about an 1/8 of an inch longer so you can not see the barrel.
Any ideas were I can find what is ok to use.
I just want to cover a 16 inch sten barrel.

Easy way if you have any tools is a black delron rod drilled out to fit over Barrel and held in place with a few set screws. With a lathe you can profile it however you want, and being solid it's very hard to say it's illegal.

Are you looking for a fake can specifically, or just a way to extend the barrel to 16"?

Semiautosten used to have a sleeve which got welded on to the end of the stubby barrel. Indianapolis Ordnance is making full sized 16" barrels if you're building a Mk2.

Since the ends of all the sten barrels aren't threaded, you could probably find a smith to thread it to a common size, that would open up your options quite a bit.

I just want to cover the barrel. I have a 17 inch barrel blank from green mountain. Plus the a copy of the original barrel. I have a family member with a lathe! So I will have both for $80. Indianapolis want $110 I think for 1 barrel.
