    "Less than 80%" lower

I'm looking to start my first 80% build. I bought a couple 80% lowers about a year and a half ago, with the intention of someday completing them. Well, the time has come that I'm looking to get the project going. I bought the lowers not knowing half of what I know now about AR's (which still isn't a whole hell of a lot, but it's enough that I have a grasp on things). Anyway, I pulled the lowers out of storage and inspected them, and discovered an obstacle (not sure how big yet, which is why I'm here). They're more like 75% lowers. Compared to a friend's 80% lower he got from Tactical Machining, mine is missing a few things.

    1. No hole for the pivot pin detent/spring.
    2. No hole for the bolt catch plunger/spring.
    3. No hole for the grip screw.

How big of a deal is this, and what are my options? I don't see the pivot pin and bolt catch holes being something too difficult for me to tackle, if I knew the proper schematics, but the threaded hole for the grip screw sounds like it could definitely be challenging.

Given that there are 80% lowers on the market that have these features already prepared, are there any shops/smiths that would take care of these issues to bring them UP to 80%? If nothing else, at least the grip screw hole? And if not, does anybody know where I can find a guide to do this part myself? I'm hoping the answer isn't "you're screwed", because although this is money I spent a long time ago, I'd hate for it to be money down the drain in the end. Thank you guys.

If you're confident enough to do #'s 1 & 2, then you shouldn't have any issue doing the grip screw hole. If you're using a drill press, just tilt your table to the appropriate angle and go. If you're using a mill, then set up an angle plate or use 1-2-3 blocks.

Aww the old days. I have done quite a few like that, and some with quite a bit more that needed to be done.

This is the best jig for doing just about everything that the new jigs don't cover. http://www.cncguns.com/forum/index.php?topic=6.0

Here are instructions for doing some of those things. http://www.cncguns.com/projects/ar15...utorial-1.html

By the time you get that jig and the extra tools you need you may be better off getting in on TM's lower sale. http://www.tacticalmachining.com/80-...-receiver.html

Pretty soon TM is going to include an AR lower with every 1911 frame purchase.

Ill ask here because its a similar issue but does Tactical Machining ever send out 80s that don't have the bolt catch detent hole not drilled?
