    1911 slide question

I can't get a straight answer from any of the smiths I've called, I am trying to see if I can machine or modify a 9mm slide to run 40 cal. I appreciate any advice you may have.
    Thank you.

Don't see why not as there is only .032 difference in case head size.

i'd imagine the ejector needs to be moded

But for $200 you can have a caspian slide and be done. and if some one walked in to my shop asking to get the work done I'd price it so a caspian was cheeper.

1911 barrels have to fit the slide and the lower lug fit to the frame. Might as well just get a different upper (slide and barrel).

Check with the 1911forum and they can provide you more insight as to whether the extractor would need modified in addition to opening up the brach face on your 9 mm slide to fire the 40 caliber.

Doing that right would take a broach, a shaper or an edm.
None of these are common to gunsmithing shops.
The ghetto way would be to file the breech wider.
