MY First AR MAG Refinishing project....!!

The finish is black with ceramic . let me know what you guys think for a first timer???? I could ve done it in platinum as well but i really liked the look in black. let me know if you wanna see pics with the mag attached to the lower!

Here is what I used...............for 9.00 you can do dozens of mags!
Let me know if you guys try it with maybe different color. I was actually
also looking at Aluminum color so if you guys try it, pls post a picture.
The pictures I took are not very crisp. When installed, the mag looks real awesome

DH 1606 High Heat Aluminum
DH 1608 High Heat Red
DH 1610 High Heat Orange

I actually went to NAPA for some parts. A day earlier I was reading about CeraKote and how it is "ceramic" and such.I was in an aisle where I noticed
Dupli-color products and it said"ceramic" on it. The widely available ones say 500 and does nt require baking & the max heat tolerence is like 500.
So I came home and googled duplicolor. What they alos have is High heat 1200 product and only in 6 colors and it requires baking. This is what I bought. I went to Autozone, napa but they did not have the High Heat.
The only place had em was Pepboys.

Ok.........since the mag body was "steel", I just used my dremel tool to completely sand it .

Actually I just have 1 mag! ............LOL............. seriously.
I thought it was too shiny and I wanted to make my mag look dashing.

This is the first time I ve ever sprayed anything in my life......there are a lot of things I dont know how to do.........eg dishwaher, vaccum etc. So I was particularly proud of this mini project!

I will give the range report eventually as I am getting the vltor fixed a1 clubfoot stock in a week and someone
is picking up my BM stock in the am.

I think since the finish is ceramic and cured by baking, range report should be positive!

The original ProMag finish is a bluing.

I like bluing on handguns, but on cheap mags it looks reflective and not right.

I think you'll probably need to keep it touched up to keep from rusting. Definitely keep the surface coated with oil.

I actually put a bit of rem oil. You think applying a clearcoat over it would help avoid rusting etc? I saw one that is acrylic at truevalue.Not sure though if that is good for thi type of eurface.
The reason I refinished it like this is for the same exact reason......the reflective look just did not go well with me. I ll try to post pic /with the mag attached to the lower! I bet the aluminum color would come out awesome! If you guys do it in aluminum color, pls pst a pic. Maybe when i finally buy a 2nd mag, I ll do it in aluminum color!
