    OTIS LIFELINER

ANYONE have firsthand experience with this stuff? I'm real curious. BUT.....none of my guns are willing to play guinea pig. I asked 'em.

so no one has commented on this, I'm curious to see if it really hardens the barrel up to 80 on the rockwell scale. kinda sounds to good to be true.

Does this actually advertise that it hardens the barrel? You don't want the barrel to be hardened to much, because the harder it is the more brittle it becomes. Accidentally shoot a round with to high of pressure, it could shatter into many pieces creating shrapnel.

The only thing I think it could do is possibly harden the inside of the barrel(surface) kind of like chrome lined barrels. I will have to look into it some.

That's what they say, that it creates a hardened layer inside the barrel. However, I haven't seen anyone who did it or knows how it went even secondhand. There's at least one other post on this subject here:

          Lifeliner barrel coating

I have been looking into this as well, when I tried to buy some, there is about a 8-9 month backlog. This is due to all they can make is going over to our troops in that mess in the Middle East. So, there must be something to it. The claim is that it can increase the bullet velocity up to 30%, which I find hard to fathom. But, would be easy to tell, fire some 6 or so random rounds picked from a sample ammo box and measure with a chrono, then after the process is used, take a round from the same box next to the same ones used earlier, and measure again. This I will do as I am on the waiting list. Will post my findings.
I do not want to imply that this flimsy test will be solid evidence one way or another, it is just my thinking.

Has anyone tried this stuff yet?

I have not tried this stuff. I use bullet slick on all my barrels with great results.
