FRUSTRATED. GRIP SCREW THREADS.

Changed out my CTR for a BCM mod 0. Cool. Easy.
Changing out my ergo for a BCM mod 0 grip.
Just a normal grip swap.
Took ergo off. Normal. Go to put BCM in. I can Only turn the screw 5 times. Back it out. Try the ergo screw. That won't go in either! Can't even put my old grip back on.
Threads match. I didn't get any resistance.
I look down my lower screw hole. Some threads look a little wonky.
I don't get it. This has never happened. Pissed.

Run a tap thru it. You already cross threaded the hole.

go to the hard ware store and buy a 1/4-28 plug tap and run it through it as suggested

Thx for the replies.
I think the mod 0 hole may direct the screw in slightly tilted if the grip is seated 100%.
I just worked the threads with oil and no grip. In 3 turns, out 2, in 4, out 3, etc. wiped it all down and had some metal shavings.
I installed the grip at an angle after I worked it for a bit.
It's in! Ahhh the anxiety.
