    1911 Double Stack Rudius?

Finally I'm going to start building my Rudius 1911. I would like make it a double stack mag equipped if at all possible. Not really worried about the increased weight.

I'm assuming I need to get all the parts for a double stack model. The handle is a work in progress currently, but I'm think i'm headed in the right direction.

I was reading about the rock island 2011's they state
"Our double stacks use a different trigger, the plunger tube is machined on, and the grip screw bushings are machined on the frame. Also, the magazine catch is wider. Everything else is Series 70."

I don't think machining the plunger tube can be machined can it. but is that critical?

I think the Handle will prove to be most difficult. But am looking forward to the challenge.

    Too much trouble you think?

Use the Mag Catch and Wider trigger from a Para High Cap frame, and that is basically the only difference. From the looks of it I think that the holes are already setup on the frame for the plunger tube.

      Cool.

Would the Frame itself need to be worked to accommodate the wider trigger?

You will run in to the problem of the mag is too wide to fit in the upper far enough.

You would be better off doing one of the Para frames from sarco, or a wide body upper and using a sti gripe

Yeah, you're trying to make it into a completely different gun. The parts are mostly the same, but the frame is significantly different. There are companies out there making 80% 2011 frames, you can make your own sti clone. Look for limited-10 here on Calguns.

Yeah, just the limited-10 frame. It's very nice.

Cool. This gives me a reason to do 2 pistols. Thanks for the input!
