    Yugo m76 question

    First question. I was wondering about the Zastava m76 and the furniture for it. I saw a stock that I like but not the original (the parts kit doesn't come with the stock anyways). Would an SRL 95 thumbhole buttstock fit on the reciver?

    Second question is what has to be done to the M76 to have it fire 30-06 instead. I would like that since the ammo more abundant than 8mm.

      No the SLR-95 stock won't fit on the yugo style receiver. Yugo style stocks only.

      A 30-06 conversion would requre a 30-06 chambered m76 profile barrel which would have to be a one off custom item, a longer magazine to accommodate the longer 30-06 cartridge, and a modified receiver for the new longer mag....possibly a modified bullet guide as well.

      A much easier conversion would be .308 win. The only custom item there would be the barrel. Also the ammo would be cheaper and more plentiful than 30-06.

      If you're dead set on an m76 in 30-06 I'd recommend just buying one from AWO. It'll be way cheaper and WAY easier....unless you're looking for a challenge. Then I say hell yeah! Build that f**ker.

          Im going the build route. I like the 30-06 so I'll stick with that maybe after this I'll make one in 308 . Since I would be making the reciver cant I just make the end of it fit on it or would that bring the trigger too far back with the pistol grip area?

          Also on the BCG is there any modifications needed to use the 30-06 round?

              The BCG shouldn't need any modifications.

              You can cut out and weld a tang on the back of the receiver to attach the SLR stock. Nicoroshi did that on his fixed stock m64. All of the internals will remain in their original locations.....How are you making the receiver? The m76 uses a milled receiver, and most hobbyists aren't equipped for that kind of work.

                  I was thinking about either giving it a try or if that fails just buy the reciver. Do you know where to get the reciver specs?
