    XD40 Not Locking Back

Was shooting my 2 year old SA XD40 at SSZS and had 2 Failures to lock back after last round on 2 separate 10rd mags. I clean the gun regularly and this occurred after about 3rd and 4th mag that day. Anything I should look for in particular or should I just send it to SA if this continues? This gun has about 1500 Rounds through it.
    Thx

I had the same issue with my XD9 that I'd been shooting for a couple of years. Turned out it was due to my change of grip style. I was slightly touching the slide release causing the slide to not hold back. Before you spend money having a pro look at it, try loading one round in the mag and firing it with just your dominant hand, no support hand. It's worth a shot, always try the simplest solution first. From what I've read its known the slide release on the XDs is sensitive to touch while firing. Since I've been aware of it, it hasn't been an issue.

It is probably you. If I shoot my XD after a round of shooting a 1911, it's almost a guarantee that I'll have my thumb pushing the slide lock down so it doesn't engage. The thumb position I use in shooting a 1911 is great for making sure the safety doesn't engage but work well on an XD. It's a common problem. And funny enough, all 4 of my XD pistols "have" the same problem.

Thanks for that insight... interestingly... I was shooting my new Range Officer just before that, so I'm betting your right. I'll try it out this weekend when I'm out in the Desert. Happy TG!
