Well my weekend project just came to a stop. I was pressing out the barrel pin on a AMD65 kit I bought from classic firearms. It was the kit with the populated barrel. The barrel pin pressed out pretty easy without too much pressure. It didn't bind up then pop free, came out smooth. The pin was broke in half. Is this common or do you think they had a problem installing the pin? The hole looks clean and doesn't have any burrs in it. This is only my second build so my experience is limited.

AMD65 barrel pin

Weird. There's not really any stress on an installed barrel pin that could cause that kind of failure (I'm assuming a break across the shaft width, not lengthwise). Perhaps during headspacing, if there was a flaw in the metal. Either that or it broke during demil, and the person who assembled it just reinstalled the broken pin.
Either way, just mic the pin for diameter and order a replacement off AKBuilder.com. Unless the hole was reamed for oversized it should be a standard 7mm pin."Better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." -- Mark Twain
