    9mm AR build questions

I'm building a 9mm AR pistol (7.5" barrel, Sig Brace).

I'm at a decision point about the mag well adapter for my 7.5" 9mm AR build.

Are all 9mm AR mags single stack?

I've heard about mag well adapters for Glock mags. Any thoughts on those?

What considerations do I need to keep in mind about feed ramps?

What considerations do I need to keep in mind about buffer weight (I don't want to be limited in terms of the kinds of loads I would be able to put through the gun)?

Are there any systems (mag well adapter and mags) in 9mm that are 1) double stack, and 2) worth a damn?

The most common 9mm mags will be the colt style.
    They are double stack.
Any 9mm mags made for AR's will likely be Colt pattern.
The feed ramps will be built into the mag adapter and the rear of the barrel.
9mm is blowback operated so you want the heaviest buffer you can get.

Barrel, sight and trigger work on most pistols and shotguns.
    Most work performed while-you-wait.

While I haven't shot mine yet, I'll offer this opinion.

I picked a Hahn dedicated magwell adapter. Every review I have read claimed they are "THE" best. It installed "easy"... just remove the magazine release, drop it in, and reinstall the mag release. No adjustments needed. Hand cycling worked perfectly and the bolt hold open worked. I follow the "buy once-cry once" mindset. I'll spend more in ammo than I spent on the adapter.

On mags, I bought one ASC 10 round mag and 4 of the Midway "Stoner" branded mags. The "Stoner" mags I got were ASC mags.

The ASC one had to have the body ground down otherwise it contacted the bolt.

All of them require the followers to be ground down a bit otherwise, they don't push all the way up and don't engage the bolt hold open.

              Thanks, Randall

Are ASC mags Colt pattern? I see images of them online and can't tell for sure if they are single or double stack.

I've been looking at the ASC mags.

Can you share some before and after pics for my reference?

DrVino, CA has certain rules about AR pistols, just be sure you are up to speed with the laws before buying a stripped receiver and putting a 7" upper on it.

As far as the ASC mags, that's what I'm using with my AR 9mm Rifle. They work great and Rifle Gear has them for $16. If you look around you can find them even cheaper.

For my build I went with a dedicated 9mm lower from CMMG and I also used their BCG. Rifle runs great and way cheaper to shoot than my AR15.

Thanks, I'm going to make mine exactly like the ones I see in my local gun stores.

                          Following along here.
This is my next assembly project. I'm actually thinking riffle length.

$200 Hahn top loading block works great with ASC mags (after some light material removal of the feed lips)
$30 Plastic promag block worked great as well with the same ASC mags...cant speak for longevity but it worked fine for several hundred rounds...
