    922 Complyance

Home built AK's & other foreign rifles. Has anyone you have ever heard of been checked for USA manufactured parts complyance? If so what were the circumstances? Or are these BS laws just more hoops for the average joe to jump through??

Regardless of the answer you get, are you seriously contemplating building a non-conforming firearm under the auspices that you might not get caught? The risk to reward ratio on something like this is severely skewed. When building an AK, the difference in cost usually boils down to an FCG(around $40) and a piece or two of furniture ($40-$100). If the cost of 922 compliance is a sticking point, the cost of ammo to shoot the thing will be an equal obstacle. Regardless of how many people have been "checked", this isn't something you want to take lightly.

I have never been checked for 922 compliance and I do not know of anyone who has; however as cheap as it is to gain 922, it is stupid not to be compliant. You can gain compliance for less then what a good attorney will charge for a phone call to his office, let alone a trial.

MAgazine parts also count to 922r compliance. With fixed/BB 10 round mag builds, it's almost a no brainer to at least toss a US made follower in there.

Yes, you do have one. That's what the spelling.gif symbol at the top right hand side of your message box is for.

922(r) compliance is a Federal issue (BATF) and shouldn't be ignored. Yes, people have been prosecuted for failure to be non-compliant, but in most cases this tends to be an add-on charge.

Even so, it's foolish to break the law, for the sake of saving a few bucks.

I was not implying I want to break the law. The question was, do you know of any one how has ever been checked? Simple enough.
PS I found the spell check, Thanks

truthfully, i don't think they even check commercial builders. just another bs hoop BUT under the hoop is an alligator pit. doesn't cost much time or money, why roll the dice. BTW, doesn't apply to pistols.

Really?... (I just checked) Damn. And I just wasted 30 bucks on a G2 FCG for my pistol. Oh well.

It's not wasted - the G2 FCG does provide a much nicer trigger than the original stock trigger.

with certain fitting issues. to use the stock fcg you must buy/fab a spacer to replace the rate reducer. also need a dummy pin for assembly as the factory doesn't use a sleeve.
NOTE- this assumes a g or ground disconnector. no tails!
