    1911 disconnector

    If I buy one that requires fitting, does that mean the head will be longer and need to be filed down to size?

    I have an ed brown disconnector right now, but when I rack the slide it is not being depressed far enough that it will reset the trigger.

    (as of right now if a pull the trigger and hold, then rack the slide, the trigger will not stay down, it will fall when the slide returns home)

    I need to find a disconnector that has a longER head so i can make it work. ideas?

    In my endeavours, mine was larger than the hole it pokes out through.

    Is there any chance that the ejector's roll pin is keeping it from getting depressed enough? This probably isn't an issue though.

    Hopefully someone can chime in that has dealt with oversized disconnectors.

      Typically the disconnector is one of the few parts that normally does NOT require fitting. That being said, if you do find you have to shorten it at the top, you must heat treat it, otherwise it won't last.

      I have to think your problem is not your disconnector, but perhaps an out of spec slide or sear hole placement?

        yeah. the slide is out of spec. I got it for free (new) from blackthorne...go figure.

        the surface underneath is literally just a couple thousands too shallow that it is not making enough contact with the frame to depress the disconnector all the way.

        i dont think heat treating/tempering will be too tough.
