Ideas on a low budget project gun

Rpk is lower cost that an ak. Ar would be the easy way. Or suomi its a bit of work. Sten mk 3 is fun. I think the sten is the most rewarding. Turning some scrap and a exhaust pipe into a working firearm. Just good fun. Ar is like legos. Ak is legos with big exspensive tools. Ammo on sten and suomi is cheap too. That means more range time.Comment

for guys on here there definately seems to be a bit of a variance on what is "Low budget".
Some people think a $1500 AR-15 is low budget, others think a $150 dollar mosin is low budget. Posting a ballpark number for your budget would probably help you get better advice.
IMO Milsurp sporters are a greatway to learn gunsmithing on an inexpensive project and have a ton of fun doing it (mosin, yugo mauser)
I am soon going to attempt my second rifle build (IMBEL FAL from a parts kit), just trying to fire up some friends to do the same so i can get them to pitch on specialty tools.Comment

You're right.
CPC 12020 addresses the issues of personally built "Zip guns" by classifying anything as such that hasn't already been considered an imported or US manufacturer created firearm.
Basically, if a design wasn't already built as one then the creation of something "Unique" would be seen as a violation of law instead of your homebuilt AK, AR, SKS, Sten, etc.
If you build something you can buy in the store, then you're in clear on this one.
