Well I just want to start witg kudos to all the people that did home build guns before the dremel was around.
I bought a mk2 kit from apex. Not what they said it was dust cover is held on with wire. Receiver tabs gas welded and half size. Mag housing would not rotate.
I sent a pm and email we will see if the make it right.
It looks like the notch for the mag pin was not cut. This kit looks like it was rebuilt once or twice already.
I cut the tube to release the mag well. I had to remove the the cotter pin and disassemble the mag housing. Icut the front sight off. Not sure how I would have done this with out a dremel.
I am lucky enough to have a bench grinder. So next I ground the old tube around the front trunion. This took alot on time. It was as though as James bond. I would not let go. An hour later its off.
Next I used dish soap to scrub all the parts. The t stock has red clay in it. Rocks too. This is a rough kit. I spend 30 min on washing. I still cant see through it. After cleaning I put ez ox on the parts. The mag well is maked e&co on the out side with 2 sn. The other side has "sten mk" nothing else. On the inside of the mag well has"M/88" . The left side of the stock has F F on it.

I didnt take pictures during I will with the next steps.
The front sight will need the dremel. Under the sight is the trunion. The bench grinder was used to remove the tube by just making it thiner. Just keep it even. Then it will start to peal with pliers.

You need to bend BPlover's ear. that guy has all the tricks worked out and knows the stuff off the top of his head.

And this is the crap apex sent me. The guy posting on here said all the clip on ones have the pin in them . Just a heads up pauls has no pin the one I just sold did not have a pin in it. The one paul posted has clear tabs in tact. The one I just sold has tabs in tact.
Beware apex is selling **** kits. Hey that rimes. I know a few people that have bought from apex and been happy. It sounds like apex bought a bunch of crap and is trying to pass it off as gold. You can see pitting from rust too. Just junk. This is my first and probably my last. I should have kept my mk3 kit. Beware of apex and dont expect quality or them yo back up there product.

Even more. I have had a mk 3 I built to a dummy gun due to buying the wrong tube. I wanted a mk 2 it will be a lot more work and tabs will look like crap .
Next kit will be from gunthings.com . I got my virgin Romanian g kit ftom them. Now I know why the are more. You get wat they show and list. I payed 120 for the ak kit in 2006. I just got my suomi kit from them it was like new. Even had the barrel lugs intact. The still have barrel shrouds with break on the end! 20 $ more thsn other sites. Well worth it. In a couple on months when I get a rpk kit ill be looking at well not apex.

Been working to much. So I have my tube cut out but will need to be cleaned up with files. Something to note the front trunion didnt quiet line up on the the hole and slot. All of the hole needed to be opened up a bit. All were under sized so no problems. My next thing will be removing the tube from the trigger housing. This will be a bit harder than normal do to the tube being gas welded to the tube. Thank for the junk apex.

I chuckle at people who buy torch-cut parts kits and then complain about how the guns were originally constructed before they were torch cut.
That's some funny chit right there...

Some of the torch cut kits were better than the saw cut ones. My semi Mk3 has no lower 'ears' because someone sawed them clean off.

Well im complaning about the fact it was rebuilt and the trigger housing tabs were gas welded to the tube they should have been spot welded. But you know way to read it all before commenting.

I just used some scrap receiver to rebuild the tabs on my mk3 pistol. But it's just to get that original look. You can just weld the stubs to the pipe if you want to. Check the attached pics to see how I fixed mine.
