Yup another 80% pistol question

I've been searching in the different sub forums but cannot find the thread I was looking for. There was a thread about building an AR pistol and someone had sent in thier voluntary form for reg. I want to build a 22 pistol and would have it engraved with all the appropriate markings and would send in the voluntary myself. I figure it would be a good idea just to have that extra coverage. My question is do I need to do this before the sse law kicks in? I plan on documenting my build and following the sse format with a sled. I would have the lower engraved and marked as a pistol before buying my upper. I was hoping to use a 7.5 upper but I recently read somewhere that there is a length req. for pistols as well? I know this has all been covered but searching this on my phone for the last hour I'm not coming up with with good info. Honestly I think the 7.5 was ok it just couldn't be longer than 10.5? I'm choosing 22 because it's blow back and there will be no confusion about buffer tube lengths. Thanks guys for your time. I know it's horse beating and apologize.

I registered a 5.56x45 10.5" as a single shot pistol with this form.

Had the lower engraved with all the needed markings: S/N (Mine), Caliber = 5.56 Pistol, City State Country of Origin and Model = My name

Send in the $19 and viola 2-3 weeks later, done and you have letter in your possession.

I also sent in copies of my CDL and HSC though you are not required to do so, only supply the #s. Figured this would ease the process.

Others expouse an opposing position. I chose to do so.

Extra Coverage??? like what would you ever mean by that?? All registration does is give the state a means to confiscation if not directly indirectly

Thanks for the forms and info. I know people oppose of the reg. but honestly I have nothing to hide and follow the law. ( not that I'm required to reg ) but I shoot with a few Leo some of whom I grew up with. I have taught them quite a bit about fire arms law and brought them here to this site. Chances of me coming in contact with an Leo that I don't know are pretty slim but it could happen and if it did I would like to make it easy for them to identify a legal fire arm registered to me.

I think that my above post answers it. I was hoping you would see my post I have read so many of yours and you have a lot of great info.
