    AK fire control group

I have installed both the hammer and spring group, and the trigger group with the spring ends properly over the trigger base-- all this with only a minor amount of blood sacrifice. When I insert the selector switch there is considerable interference with the selector arm and the trigger.
I recall filing the selector arm for clearance but is it possible to remove too much metal where the selector arm interferes with the trigger group?
Any tips and precautions before I begin to file?

Only file away half the surface area. About 2mm is what is removed

I always try to install the safety counter clockwise first to see if it is necessary to remove any metal.

I never saw the part about filing on any of the video's or articles on building AK's. I fooled around with mine for half an hour until I got the file out. I tried everything I could think of, and it was trying to put two cattle thru a one cow gate; wouldn't fit.

I cut them with a 4" angle grinder, but I have ninja angle grinder skills.
Just make sure you do the correct SIDE of the safety as it's harder to put metal back ON...

Is the reason you have to file because the semi-auto trigger group sticks further back and smacks into the selector? I doubt the factory using FA parts is filing. But the combination of a FA selector and a SA trigger, they hit? I didn't get the FA parts so I can't compare them...

It's clearance for the disconnector. the selector has a hard time clearing the disconnector every rifle is a little different and requires from just a little material removed to a lot of material removed. More so on the tapco triggers too.

Timely thread. Was about to ask this very question. Pulled apart an already functioning commercially built trigger group to compare and had determined some filing was needed.
Really glad to hear its SOP.
                Thanks.
