You should consider changing the title of the thread since the difference in the two is not insignificant. You can't put an upper receiver built for an AR-10 on a DPMS lower receiver. It won't work.

Yep everyone says AR10 but few actually mean it.

I use the general term "308 AR".
The pattern comes later after the type of rifle is established.

Is this in reference to my comment??
Because if it is then why bother building a semi auto. If you don't care about breaking laws go build a full auto and see how well that works for you numb nuts.

All you are going t get for help is someone to stand over your shoulder. Anyone doing anything else is asking for federal felony charges.

are you SERIOUS! i never asked for someone to mill this for me. i have not broken ANY gun laws ever. its not illegal for someone to rent me their damn jig. I could do the work at my house. and its not illegal for people to give pointers as long as they are not doing the work. You sir have been ZERO help. I did not ask for your perspective on legalities as I already know them. i have found multiple sources of help already. thanks for your useless commentary. Out.

You think you know the rules to the game. When did I say it was illegal for someone to give you pointers??

I never suggested that you wanted someone to mill it for you. You do understand the BATFE's position on tool ownership though don't you??

I have two PDF copies of a cease and desist letter and a federal complaint affidavit and in both documents the non ownership of tooling was seen as illegal manufacturing by the BATFE. so I'm merely pointing out what you need to do to be legal as of the latest BATFE opinion on the subject.

So what that means is you need to
                            1. Buy your own jig
                            2. borrow a jig with no compensation exchanged
                            3. do all of this on your own property.

You see it's hard headed people like yourself that think you understand the law and opinions of the BATFE and expect people to just step up an help willy nilly.

There are very clear and defined lines drawn by the BATFE. You are asking for someone to cross those lines.

Now to explain everyone reaction here Please take this with a grain of salt sir. There are at least two requests a week on this board to machine a AR lower
there are numerous other requests on calguns on other boards for the same activity.

We get a little sick and tired of people asking us to do things that are now considered illegal or questionable. So we have a low tolerance for ignorance and laziness.

Go buy a jig and be done or do like I told you use your mill that you claim to have and machine it. you do not need a jig if you have a mill. I already pointed out where the prints can be found. but apparently you want someone to hold your girly hand through the process.

                            Figure it out

You are funny. my first post was asking if someone just had the jig. i could do it on my ghetto time consuming drill press with 3/8 endmill at home no problem. just how i built the others. and yea if there's someone who could assist by giving tips on a AR10 build that might differ from a AR15 build why is that a bad thing? I never was going to break the law or have someone else break the law. stop being so counterproductive and do something useful with your time. Like i said there's nice people out there and I already got this handled. thanks for your help.

So you don't have a mill.

                                and you said "out"?????

And if you want to know the differences i'll tell you

                                the FCG is the same

the difference is the front of the FCG starts at 3.840" back from the take down pin instead of 3.265" like the AR

Your hammer hole is 4.168" from the front take down pin instead of 3.604

With that information and a mill you can machine your lower all by yourself
