A lot of autos will drop the hammer on an empty gun, the ammo feeding slows the slide down a little and cushions the slide blow at the end of feeding. You should be pulling the slide back and letting it go anyhow, called "slingshotting". If it drops the hammer with a loaded mag feeding a round, then you have an issue, requiring gunsmithing in the hammer/sear area. I have a Detonics .45, a little bitty thing with a ferocious inner/outer recoil spring, and it will drop the hammer on the half cock notch often when letting the slide slam home empty using the stop lever to release it. It's the inertia of the slide making the trigger move. Tell us what you find.sigpic
