    Disabling Galil folder?

I tried to google CGN on this topic but came up empty.

Has anyone disabled the folding stock on a Galil before? 69Mach1's thread did not cover Galils.

I am considering drilling and tapping a hole on the bottom of the folder mechanism and inserting a bolt with a tightening nut on the other side.

    Any other less damaging ideas?

Awesome idea. Was thinking the same thing but to the uninformed Leo, an under folder staked down is still an under folder.

Small hose clamp around the rod that is under the folding mechanism on right side.

You can always use paracord and wrap the entire thing to hide the button.

Another half baked idea of mine, copied from nicoroshi's bag of tricks, is to cover the button with a shortened .45 case and somehow secure it, whether to drill a small hole on top of the button for a tiny screw, or even epoxy it on.

drill out a nut that is the right height, press out the pin, put on nut and press back in. If you cared how it looked find a correct sized bushing.

where did you find a real israeli stamped Galil?

Also.. why pin it? Just get your OAL up to snuff with it folded.

Another option would be to get some bar-stock and fit that under the sling loop extending backwards to get the OAL needed to meet the law. Just use a clamp to hold it place and when folded you are still OAL compliant.

No need to wreck your folder.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

You could leave it as a folder unless you're trying to go featureless... I added an extended muzzle brake on mine. Bought it from CNC Warrior I think.

Zip tie on the pivot post so you cannot press the stock down to unlock it.

I used a piece of a .308 casing cut to fit the exposed part of the pin
                        fit tight and looks cool

All good suggestions, gentlemen. When I get it back from the FFL, I will play around with your different suggestions and see. As it is right now, the seller has inserted a short piece of PVC pipe in there so it can be transferred as a featureless.

My challenge was to find the simplest mods I can expect a seller to do without causing permanent harm to the rifle. PRK Arms has stopped making their PRK Lock for the Galil. Raddlock requires you to drill out the original mag release pivot and replace it with theirs. So, a magazine lock is out of the question. Featureless is the only option for me, really.

It is not a real Israel Military Industries Galil. That one is banned by name in Roberti Roos. This one was a special run of Galils built by Troy Sellars at InRange.

I would agree with those strategies if I were to go the mag lock route. One issue with extending the folded OAL with unconventional methods is the ease by which the extender can be removed while sitting in the evidence room. I have long flash hiders on a couple of my folders, but I personally don't really relish the appearance, but it's only my personal preference.
