    1911 fitting ejector

Folks, what is the proper technique for fitting the ejector to 1911 frame? I have three different ejectors, and on each one of them the front pin is too thick and doesn't go into the ejector hole (which is spec size). I don't have a reamer and I don't think opening the hole would be a right thing to do, and I don't want to hammer the ejector down - those pins will break off and stay in the frame (ask me how I know). So what else is possible?

You could try polishing the ejector. Removes very small amounts of material and keep refitting until the go in

Most 1911 parts are a hand fit proposition. A good set of small files and stones, along with several grades of wet/dry sandpaper should be in every gunsmiths tool box, no matter how amateur you are. Fit the ejector pin to the frame, not the other way around.

Use a set of calipers to measure the post that seems too big and just re drill the hole if its too small, they make letter and number drill sizes. Or take some sand paper and reduce the size of the post, it can't be that far off..

Don't drill the frame. Fit the part.

Yup, you guys were right, 15 min with thin strip of emery cloth polishing the pin and this sucker went right in, nice and snug fit. Don't even need to cross pin it. Now it's range time!
