    Need advice/help with Star

I know this isn't exactly the place, but I've not had much luck in other forums. I have a Star Firestar M40 that has developed an extraction problem every X rounds. The spent casing will be extracted about halfway and then the extractor slips off and the slide continues to cycle, stripping a new round off the mag and attempting to feed it underneath the partially extracted casing. The extractor claw looks good (I think, but I'm no gunsmith), so I'm thinking it must be the spring. I've seen other Firestars with this same problem.

Parts are an issue on these guns. Does anybody know of a gunsmith in OC or LA that does work on these? I'd like to get it fixed in anticipation of selling the gun. Thanks.

Is the extractor spring loaded on a pivot pin like the diagram below?
If so, I would try replacing the spring with a stronger one.
