    80% 1911 question

What happens if disconnector is disabled on a 1911? When I remove the slide trigger works if slide in place won't fire. Any ideas.?

It sounds like the slide is not letting the disconnector pop up.
If your disconnector does not pop up, the disconnector will not transfer movement between the trigger bow and the sear to release the hammer.

The disconnector should pop up into this cut on the underside of the slide:

Thanks Randall I was going to cut slot like you display above. This is happening on my friends 1911. I am going to drill the 3 holes in my frame to finish this weekend. I machined the rails tight on my frame and am going to lap them in. I found my woodruff cutters from 30 years ago and my ball end mill from when we made long slides.

And thank you Randall for that picture. that custom cutter is almost exactly what I need to bring the slot for the trigger bow forward a bit.

The Problem is you'll never get it in the mag well to clear it out

I could grind you a custom cutter but it would be a two flut only and you would have to pay very close attention to what you are doing as it could break quite easily and if you raised the quill with out indexing the cutter you would damage your frame and your cutter.

you also have to use it at a moderate rpm and take very small cuts

Yes like above said the disconnector is designed to prevent the gun from firing until the slide is in a full closed and locked position. You DO NOT want to disable a disconnector unless you want to have some nice fireworks going off in your hand.
