1911 Feed Ramp Correction

Here is a photo of a 1911 feed ramp being corrected to feed hollow points and lead semi-wadcutters. Even with all of the technology these frames are being produced on, they are still mass produced items that at the end of the day may be "close" to in spec. Some areas on the frame are darn near impossible to measure by hand, and it helps to have a digital touchprobe on our Haas so we can quickely and precisely figure out what is going on with particular problem parts.

We were lucky on this frame and were able to correct the ramp to the correct angle without having to compromise case support, which usually isn't a problem with .45 ACP. I won't name the mfg of the frame, since this is a fair representation of what we see across the board for many mfg's.

I have done all mine @ 31 Degrees, Polished and with a GOOD Wilson mag, have had no problems feeding all type rounds and weight bullets..

31 degrees is optimal, not all frames can be corrected to that angle though. This particular frame worked out to 30 degrees from 27. When properly throated afterwards, a 1911 can run with pretty much any decent mag. I tested mine with mags that haven't had a spring replacement in 15 years, Wilson and CMC mags.
