    PTR 91 Gi barrel question

Would it be reasonable/feasable to cut down a PTR 91 barrel approximately 3.5 inches almost flush with the front sight and weld a muzzle device on to meet oal and barrel length requirements?

Would this create any issues with the cocking mechanism and or is there enough meat on the barrel near the front sight to do this?

I was looking at a GI from atlantic and wanted to do something a little different.

Shortening an HK roller locked barrel is no problem since there is no gas system to be concerned about.
The cocking mechanism is all contained within the cocking tube, which generally ends into the front sight tower.
You would need to keep the cocking tube in the same location as that's where the front of the handguards attach.
You can thread a muzzle device almost right up to the front sight tower.
