    DIY Poly Pistol questions

I'm bored and looking for a new project and then I ran across some guy who took an airsoft and modded it to accept a Glock slide. So this got my mind to thinking... Not about modding airsofts but about how hard is it really to make poly lower?

So the first thought is which gun to base it off of. There are a ton of Glocks out there and it should be easy to get the parts needed to complete the build but is there something better then a Glock at least for simplicity?

I have access to a 3D printer and I have a friend who does vacuum and injection molding as a hobby. My thought is to design in 3D and build a prototype that we can then turn into a mold. Then buy replacement parts to finish the build.

    Any suggestions?

The issue with making a Glock style frame is you have to embed the metal chassis in the frame.
    Could be tricky.

Other poly designs use a metal chassis held to the frame with cross pins.
Examples: Kel Tec, Ruger LCP / LC9, Sig 250
Much easier to do, as long as you can make the metal chassis.

it would be easy to machine from solid then build a mold. even one of those cheap silicone molds with the resin kits. would still be easier to machine from solid. but you have to figure out how to insert some steel.

Here are the sheetmetal parts kits that you weld together to create a frame that fits inside the airsoft glock shell.

Maybe the fiber fix stuff that hardens tougher than steel could be used.

Maybe treat it like plaster or wrap it around a mold in strips.
