I am going to sight in my new AK and am wondering what I can use to adjust the front sight for windage. I have seen an adjustment tool is recommended but I don't have one. Anything I can do in the field? Is their a set way to zero the rifle like the AR-15? Thanks, Sammy

You're going to want the tool, but I guess you could use a hammer and a punch...
Yeah, get the tool.

Ummmmmm.... best way to sight these in is "pull the trigger".

You will want the tool. Where are you if you are in San Diego area you can borrow mine."For between an armed and an unarmed man there is no comparison whatsoever, and it is not reasonable for an armed man to obey an unarmed man willingly."

Anyone have or try one of these sight tools?

domokun, now that is a really nice tool. It looks as if you can leave it attached as you shoot. Where did you find that?
I have one I got from addax for $10
But it would sure make things easier if it could stay attached.
So along these lines,
When sighting in an AK, should the rear sight be all the way down, and what distance should it be sighted in at?Comment

That tool is made by B-Square. I've been looking for one as well because it does mount onto the sight and can be left on while shooting. When sighting your rifle, you should leave it where the factory/builder has set it and adjust from there.domokun, now that is a really nice tool. I built my own, the front sight parts have all been removed, cleaned up, and replaced. It will be way off.
I was just wondering if there is a standard distance for 7.62 alignment like on the AR. When the rear sight is in the lowest position etc. I will look it up tonight. I belive there is a manual on ARF. And I will look on theakforum.Comment

Please post whatever you find. I've been wondering what's the right way too.
If I remember right, my rear sight has markings/notches that start at "0" and go up from there. I sighted mine in at 100 yards with the rear sight set on the "1" position. I have no idea if that's right or not.Comment
