Finally done. Another M70 range ready...ish.

I've been kicking this build around for a while and just got done with the .302 pin after I jacked up the first drill.

Now should I cold blue or park...

Good looking rifle. I vote cold blue. Also, what magazine is that? Looks like a tapco slabside in 10rd? Do they make those?

Nice build. I don't know much about park vs bluing yet; I'll deal with that once my m70 is assembled. Do they come blues or park'ed.
Working on my first AK, a Yugo M70B1.

Let me know if you need any cylinders hydro-tested or small oxygen cylinders filled in the south LA and north OC area. I also may be able to give calgunners discounts on certain victor products.

100% USA made Aresenal 10 rounders from ak-builder.

It's a solid mag with a steel catch and well fit follower. If I can afford more, I'll pick up another two when my next check allows it. They're way better then tapco.

Don't the arsenal mags come with a bullet guide on the magazine? Do you cut it off? (I've never seen one in person)

Black manganese parkerizing is my recommendation. Black-park looks awesome on AK's.

Or, grey park it and then paint it HK-Flat black from Duracoat....

Good job! What method did you use to attach the sling loop to the receiver?

No they do not need modification to be used in an AKM. They are all that I run in my AKs, great 10 round mags. And they count as three 922r parts as a bonus.

Yeah but 922r is tax code and everybody cheats on their taxes.

The mags arrive in bags as seen. I didn't see any bullet guides included unless I threw it away with the packaging. Pretty sure the box was empty though.

For the M70 the sling loop is held on by two metal flaps that lay flat going into the slot then are pressed away from each other to a 90* bend on both sides. The opposite is done for removal. I was a bit surprised that they aren't welded to the reciver when I got it as a parts kit. Some say annealing is recommended before removal and installation, but the steel seemed fairly soft after it already got cooked in the milling process after the old reciever got cut up. I cooked it a bit more anyway for the peace of mind just in case. I didn't see any visible cracks after bending it a bit and if it fails, it's just a piece of metal anyway. I can measure the thickness, cut another one out, and cook it if this one fractures.

Curtis sells the flats with the slot cut. It certainly makes things makes simple.

It's third or fourth hand equipment, but I can't complain for the money I paid.

Took quite a few strikes to get one side straight since the lip was curled and left my first rivet looking eggplant shaped. I then took a dremel, ground it to a cone and tried to get the cup even again since it left marks on the rivet head. I'm not sure what the heck the previous owner was doing with this thing, but it's seen better days.
