OK. welded a bit on the tip of the L lever, looks good. Works when I cycle it by hand. I'll try to get to the range next weekend and see if it works.

That is correct. No button needed.

As far as the springs .....I ran into some problems with mine when I started.

From IO when I started years ago:
If you cut the top spring too short (while tuning), it will not cycle the next round "completely" into battery. It will leave the round half way out and will fire. That round will blow out the side and out the ejection port (very dangerous). So check it after each round for a while. This is what I did at first!

If you cut the bottom or top spring too short, it will hammer the back side of the receiver end (too much recoil).

If you cut the bottom spring not enough, it will not allow the hammer to come all the way back as far as it needs to so it can set up for the next round.

As far as the little rod in the back end in the possible "thumb hole", I did that to take away the "idiot factor". Didn't want to be sitting in a little room trying to explain how that can't be used as a thumb hole to some jerk with an agenda. If you read the law, it never says it had to be a "thimb hole" from the factory. It just has to be able to get your thumb into it and around the back grip. I can't do it, but my wife's fingers were small enough to do it. But the "hand grip" really does not hang down enough to be considered a "grip", but I put the rod in and the problem is gone. No potential problems from any "jerks".

Once tuned....they are a lot of fun to shoot. Not real accurate, but fun!

Barrel is lengthened. I had an old "sten" mag and welded in a rod to only allow 10 rounds for California. You can also cut them down in size or buy a new 10 rounder.
