Tell me how well that works for ya. I was thinking of it but knew it wasn't right. If I was to do it and could not get a 5.56 parts kit I'd try to use a 7.62 bolt and have it micro welded then machine it to fit.Last edited by kcstott; 06-22-2014, 7:00 PM.Comment

I guess...you can use the existing 5.56 bolts that kavar sells the are the short lug AKM type. The bulgy short lug bolt fits in all my 7.62 carriers but will not fit in my 5.45 carriers. Then use a AKM trunnion and a 5.56 bullet guide. Then source a 23mm barrel. This is the way it was explained to me so I might be wrong.
I had a bunch of ak74 parts so I went with a AKbuilder 5.56 barrel and a 74 trunnion. Since sagia 223 bolts seem to non existent out side of a built gun, I was advised to use a 5.45 bolt. From what I hear it's one of the most common ways to get a 5.56 AK.Last edited by johnyreb; 06-22-2014, 7:12 PM.Comment
