    Aluminum cold blueing...?

Is there a product that will treat aluminum with a cold blue or black?

Looking for something similar to cold steel treatment like black magic etc...

    Thanks!

Sounds like a good product but I want to know average layer thickness. But from reading it seams similar to Cerakote

          It's paint, not bluing.

You can send it out to Ion Bond or hard anodizing.

OP wants a DIY coating that requires no toxic acids, not send it out to someone else.

air cured Cerakote would be the most durable non anodized type coating you could put on an Aluminum lower yourself without fancy setups.

If you want it just black then you can buy metal marking ink and pour it over the lower.

The Birchwood casey aluminum black is just about useless in my experience.

ahh hmm wow did not think anyone would ask, was actually making a joking comment.

It would be no different than using a permanent marker if you want a serious answer, which btw is very close to what Birchwood Casey is.

I've used it infrequently, but only for tiny scratches or marks.

It contains selenium, which is nothing to screw with. I apply it with the tip of a swab or pipe cleaner over newspaper. Wash hands when done.

OT, I'm sometimes amazed by the degree of half-a**ness I see on this board related to gun smithing.
