Shield Loaded Chamber Indicator removal

Hey guys,

IF a person had one of the new shield's with the loaded chamber indicator that looks like it was attacked by a vicious typewriter, how could it be removed to be made prettier? I don't have a problem with LCIs and actually like the idea of being able to feel at night what my status is, I just look at that thing and it's so unattractive the way it is done. I thought if it could be removed, sanded/painted/blued, something, then put back in it would be better.

Paint it black. Remove it and grind off the tab that actually gets pushed up by the case rim, then it won't do anything.
