RRA 2-stage trigger issue

Might be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry. Just want to make sure everything is alright with my new RRA 2-stage trigger as this my first 2-stage trigger.

is there supposed to be a noticeable click noise halfway through the trigger pull? I did the safety checks, but wasn't sure if the click was supposed to be there to let you know you are in the 2nd stage. The instructions mentioned something about a click, but wasn't very clear.

There is a little slack on the first stage... you can creep up to the 2nd stage.
It should not be a continuous pull ...

There's no audible click at the end of the first stage - - you just squeze to take up the slack until you get to the point where it takes a little more effort to keep going - that's where the second stage begins. Squeeze a little harder there, and the trigger breaks nice and clean and the rifle goes bang. When you get used to it, you'll be able to go right to the end of stage 1 and hold there every time without going past and into stage 2. A 2 stage trigger is not of much use for rapid fire, but it's essential if you want to shoot "slow fire" for precision, IMHO.

I've installed a few and there are differences in the degree of take up to the first stage and the feel.

There should be a long and relatively pressure free initial pull. At this point the part moving is the trigger itself and resistance is due to the trigger return spring only. Depending on the dimensions of your receiver, the trigger may move without contacting the the hammer at all or it may slightly contact it. But there should be a distinct and separate 1st stage that stops without the hammer falling.

Once the trigger reaches the end of the 1st stage and stops you should feel a distinct increase in pressure. That's the 2nd stage and it should be very crisp. Basically, once you get to the 2nd stage you should feel a standard trigger release.

When you press the trigger through the 1st stage and "set" for the 2nd, releasing pressure on the trigger should allow the trigger to fully return forward. On a few that I've used the interaction of trigger & hammer can cause the trigger to set (that may be the "click" you referenced) in the 2nd stage and require the shooter to manually push back the trigger. This is usually a sign of someone having done a bit of smoothing to the trigger & hammer contact points or as mentioned slight differences in receiver specs.

You may want to remove the upper and while holding the hammer see how the parts move.

its like a 1911 trigger, has some takeup and then a crisp short light pull.

I have 3 RRA 2-stage triggers in 3 OLLs and none of them have an audible click? All 3 have about 1/4" of takeup and then the trigger breaks nicely at around 6 lbs. It takes a little getting use to, especially if you're transitioning from a single stage trigger, but once you get use it, it works great!
