    Need help with myAr-15 mags

Ok so it's not seating properly when I insert my magazine with 10 rounds and the bolt in the closed position. I have to slam it in hard in order for the mag catch to do it's work. In comparison to other Ar rifles this is not normal. Any reason why? Any troubleshooting advice?

Sounds normal, fully loaded magazines(10,20,30) usually need an extra slap to seat properly on a closed bolt.
    WOOHAA!!! It's ON!!

Most of my magazines need to be hit pretty hard to seat, only a few of them engage easily. Do you have other mags to try?

Is it a high cap mag that was modified for ten rounds? If so, be sure that there is a little room for compression. When working on a ten round G36 mag, we had to readjust the delrin insert a couple times to allow the 10rd stack to compress a little as the bolt came forward to strip the first round, but not enough to squeeze in an 11th round.

          Here's an easy test:

Pull the upper off (for safety reasons).

Do the mags now seat real easily?

If so, then it sounds like the normal thing. When the bolt is closed, full mags generally need to be slammed in place. With the bolt open, the mags should just pop right in with virtually no friction.

Virgin mags and a virgin mag catch can make for some sticky mag changes.

It will become easier as the mags/mag catch wear in.

On every AR I own its hard to seat a fully loaded magazine in when the bolt is closed. The preban mags are a bit easier, but they are also pretty worn. Most of my pistols are the same way. I've got an XD that needs both hands to actuate the mag release when the slide is in battery and the mag is fully loaded.

My XD is the exact same way.

I hate ejecting mags like that. I always think I'm gonna wear out some irreplaceable plastic part

Guns are like cheap whores. They don't like to be coddled. Use 'em, rough 'em up, toss 'em aside and they will keep going.
