Springfield 1911, not too impressed with fitment and accuracy.....

A few months ago I bought a springfield loaded "N" frame. I am not impressed with the accuracy or fitment. 6in group @ 25 with my loaded VS 2.5in group with my operator for example. lockup is there but dosent feel all that great, spring sounds like its wanting to bind, trigger creep, just overall not smooth and dosent fit that great at all.

also I previously had a NM framed loaded, my neighbor has an NM framed loaded and they both fit great.

is there anything that a 1911 smith can do that could help with this? I know trigger work is a given. but in regards to slide/frame/barrel fitment? recommend anyone in particular that wont completely flatten the wallet and/or take months?

Yes, all of that can be addressed by a good 1911 Gunsmith.

Cost and time will vary depending on who you choose.

I would go with SACS or Cylinder & Slide...SACS would be quicker.

What do you think the custom shops do?? Thats what they specialize in. Slide, barrel, Bushing, frame fit. I work on my own stuff so I have no recommendations to do the work other then the top custom shops like Wilson but they are very expensive.
Others will have better suggestions for whom to do the work.

You may want to call Springfield and see what they have to say.

What is a "loaded" frame? Never heard that one before.

Is NM, National Match, like my Colt Gold Cup National Match? That shoots 2" groups at 25 yards off a rest, with just my run of the mill reloads. When I was looking at .45acp's, it was obvious that the factory target gun was best value. The custom gunsmiths were just way to expensive for what you get.

            Another vote for calling Illinois...

A loaded is what springfield calls their model that has night/novak sights, forward cocking serrations, long aluminium trigger and beavertail gripsafety. loaded is apposed to the slab-sided basic GI style 1911. Kind of like colt 80S vs a XSE

NM is the serial number prefix (NM 123456 for example). it does not stand for National Match, it is one of the frames that is used for alot of their pistols, even the semi-customs and customs I believe. N frames are the ones that are made in Brazil. NM prefixes in my opinion tend to be a little nicer fitment-wise as opposed to N.

I have never fired a colt GCNM but I would imagine it is like a springfield semi-custom like the TRP, very nice, fit great and half the price of custom from the ground up 1911s
