    Help: AK folder -30" OAL- Muzzle/flash hider/brake

    In CA so 30" min

Wondering what you guys are going about extending Overall length on AK underfolders/ sidefolders?

1- I've seen the methods to fix the stock position to open but I want to be able to fold it, carry it and use it w stock folded when necessary.
2- I've seen a couple muzzle brakes but what I saw were far and few and like $80 each. Anyone have a schematic for me to make one?
3- ak s in question are maadi, polish and Hungarian. I prefer to make it look some at original.
4- also what has best performance?

Thanks in advance for the great site and great help. I learn a lot here from all yall

Sling mount on the rear to give you an inch or two at the rear. Then add a extended brake and you're good.

Brake is easy, steel rod 5/8" diameter for what ever length you need plus a little bit drill through .330"-.350". Drill and tap opposite end fo 14x1LH done deal

Thanks guys! I was thinking everyone was out having fun over the weekend unlike me
1low - looks good thanks. I've seen those. What do your opinion about it?
KC - how do those mount? Weld, rivet? On the outside of reiever? EDIT: I saw a few including from curtis and apex and it looks like it goes under pistol grip. Planning on using a PG support so would this work in place of a PG support? Maybe I need to make one. Any other specifics in the brake that helps performance?
Bbob - Bayonet is fine but I heard ranges typically do permit them. And def want it somewhat permanent so I don't accidentally become a federal criminal

The bayonet is about as permanent as a detachable muzzle device, so I'm not sure what the concern is here.

Both a correct bayonet+slantbrake and a 5.5" long fake silencer bring the OAL of a folded polish UF to 30 inches, but just barely in the case of the fake silencer.

I found that a Yugo bayonet is a tight fit on Egyptian crutch folders for whatever reason. To get them on and off you pretty much need a rubber mallet. I like that because its not possible for somebody that doesn't know better to take it off without thinking. As far as ranges not allowing them I did not know that.

Yes I agree however, you really wouldn't remove the brake and shoot the rifle but you might remove the bayo and shoot it.

Thanks for the other input. I am trying to find something that doesn't make the folder look like it has a huge long fat barrel... But I guess then I would have a short barrel SBR... Haha.

The amd brake is actually is looking nicer every day.

Bayonet! If your worried about making the bayonet more difficult to remove so some idiot RO doesn't inadvertently turn it into an AW, Here is how to make your bayonet more "permanet" : http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=798135
If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.

Yeah the sling mount does go in place of a reinforcement plate. Best thing is it reduces how much you need to add to the barrel.

Then there is the comments on being permanent and that is not required that's why a bayonet is such a good option.

I run the amd brake. I can highly recommend it. It definitely reduces recoil and is the easiest option to keep your folder folding. I was a little peeved about the extra length at first but shooting it has set aside all of that

Here's my overall look, and I didn't replace the reinforcement plate
