Colt 6940 Safety question

I just bought a used Cot 6940 and the safety switch is on the right side of the gun. The owner said it came like that from the factory. I was wondering if I could put the switch on the other side or do I have to purchase a new switch? Also is it a hard task can I do it myself or should I get it professionally done.

The new, within the last 5 years or so, safety selectors are reversible. Can be mounted for either left or right side.

Loosen the pistol grip screw and lower the grip downward away from the receiver, this takes pressure off of the spring and detent that retain the safety selector. Or just completely remove the grip screw, grip, detent and spring.

Slide the safety selector out the side, may have to move trigger to free it from the safety selector. Reinstall.
