    nds3 ak74

I just picked up a nice ak74 parts kit today. I have an nds-3 from a while back that I never built up. Can I use it to build this 74 kit?

The NDS-3 appears to be a 47 pattern receiver, not a 74 pattern receiver.
The magazine well will be SUPER loose with a 74 magazine inserted into it.
    Save the NDS-3 for a 7.62x39 build.

Alright thanks. I knew it was for a x39...just wondering if it was doable, even though not correct. I didn't realize there was that much of a difference in mag width by just comparing the ones I have. Thanks again guys!

Also if it's predrilled, the rear trunnion holes will be off

Don't look like much but it a mile when talking mag fit. Not to mention the trunnion holes are not correct.

The difference in magazine widths is 1.5 mm.
Half of that is on each side.
The lower rails get trimmed so they are roughly the same width as the opening in the receiver for the mag as well as the width of the insides of the dimples.
If you had the wrong receiver, you would lose the support of the magazine AND the dimples.
All you would have control of is the width of the rails, assuming the receiver does not already have rails installed.
If the receiver already had rails installed, there would be no easy way to tighten up the mag fit.

Yes you can make it work. You can always use an AKM rear trunnion, and the ejector should have enough meat to kick the round out.

The others, well......they just never learn.
