Ruger 44 Carbine Trigger Assembly

After 2 1/2 hours messing around with this thing blind, to change a broken lifter dog..... I admit defeat at getting it back together... I can not get the hammer springs back in place to operate the hammer... Last part to go back in, as far as my operation was going.

Searched the web, and You tube. Anyone got information or a trick they could share?

If it would help, I can take a photo of my trigger assembly and email it to you. BTW, I have never disassembled mine, and after reading your post, I'll just continue to flush it out with brake cleaner.

I'm about the same way as I haven't taken mine apart in years as I only shot it a couple of times. I have one of the last ones that were made, the 25th anniversary model..

When replacing the hammer springs, they must be reinserted from the inside of the trigger group. When the long arm of the spring is protruding to the outside, insert a drift punch into the center of the spring and tilt the drift toward the front of the housing, levering the spring into its hole.

Installing the hammer is perhaps the most difficult of reassembly operations. Be sure the short inner arms of both hammer springs engage the underside of the small roller at the lower end of the hammer. Push the hammer straight downward and insert a drift punch through the hammer pivot hole to hold it in place for insertion of the cross pin. Be sure the spring ends are not allowed to slip from beneath the roller during installation of the pin. Remember to replace the spring cross pin and re-hook the spring arms onto the hammer pivot pin.

I will try to do it this way, next time I am up to battling it. I was trying to insert from the outside and hope it fell into place....
