Rust bluing solution

I looking into rust bluing a 1911
I seen a couple of home made mix of
Hydrogen Peroxide and table salt
Has anyone tried it before or want to share your mix

Just buy the Herters Slow Rust blue solution .... not that expensive and really gives a great even shaded black/blue color. Mixing your own if not careful can end up with a solution that is to strong and can etch to deep into your metal making it look horrible and pitted or to weak and a horrible streaky color that requires you to strip everything and start over.
