Ithaca 37 trigger assembly on stevens 350

I have an extra Ithaca 37 trigger assembly that I installed a left handed safety on. I visual compared the 37 assembly to that of a Stevens 350 trigger assembly and it looks dimensional close. I tried sliding the 37 into the stevens receiver but it was met with some resistance so I stopped. The difference seems to be very minimal. Because of the left handed safety I would like to see if I can have it fitted to the stevens. Can anyone recommend a Bay Area gun smith or machine shop that could mill the assemble to size

At the end of the day I want to do this for no other reason than to satisfying my own curiosity.

    Thanks

    Danny

Ps I'll post up some pictures tomorrow morning

    Update:
The ithaca 37 trigger assembly was able to interface into the stevens 350 receiver without any machining. I will post an updated picture in the morning. So I think this is pretty cool because I now have a true left hand safety on the stevens.

          Well that's great.
but if I were you I would seriously consider taking it to a local gunsmith for a quick check up, just to make sure everything is in order.
or at least to take it out to a outdoor shooting area and SAFELY do some testing of your trigger, safety, drop testing, interrupter (racking the pump with the trigger held and its most rearward position to make sure the interrupter is working) ... basically a full systems function check.
          although,

it doesn't surprise me that it fits. a lot of companies these days just make clones or extremely close copies of older, proven designs.
why re- invent the wheel if you pay a designer to redesign it?

especially if you're trying to capture the budget market. (or if the shotgun is coming from china like a lot of shotguns now are.)

that's a good looking home defense shotgun you got there.

Actually was contemplating such an attempt before I searched and found your message here in the board (along with the date) --- just wondering if EVERYTHING is still working out after the operation (over time) that you described ? Plz update me as I'm gonna do it too

I read your post and found it interesting! Why did you change the safety out? I have the 350 and shoot from the left shoulder. I find the 350 safety can be partially engaged by normal shooting. I am interested in converting the trigger on mine too.

Revisiting this old thread, I did it simply because I could. The ithaca trigger was of a higher manufacturing stanard and allowed for the left hand safety. All these years later it's still one of my favorite shotguns and has held up very well to field abuse and several shotgun classes later.
