Hi, guys! I looked for on everything Calguns, but I couldn't find the answer to my question. I am not a Citizen, but I have Greencard and there live in California 6 months. I want to build a AK or AR-rifle with 80% of a receiver. It is lawful? And how to register these toys?

If you can legally own a firearm, you can legally build one. Why would you want to register it? There is no law requiring you to.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I arrived from Russia and there any person who owns any unregistered weapon will be imprisoned. If you are on hunting or for a shooting range, any police officer or a forester can check your hunting license and weapon license. Simply I can't get used to the free country.Comment

It ain't that free. But it's better then where you came fromI arrived from Russia and there any person who owns any unregistered weapon will be imprisoned. As long as you can legally possess a weapon you can build a weapon, simple as that. Now there are some things you need to pay attention to about building a weapon in California but weapon are built here all the time and as long as you follow the laws. No registration is required as of yet, and no serial number is required either.
Read a few of the stickies
The Build process
Serial number laws
Assault weapons flow chart
And remember a home built flat or lower is an off list lower or OLL you will se that a lot. it simply mean it has not been banned by name.Last edited by kcstott; 03-18-2014, 8:53 PM.Comment

kcstott, thanks for links! I'm read them completely for couple days.
But tell me, please. If I shoot on the range from my unregistered rifle and police officer asks me about my rifle. What do I answer him? - I made my rifle in garage?
I dont understand this action in the USA. Here it is accepted to check the weapon and owners? How it occurs? What licenses the owner of the weapon needs to have on a shooting range, in transit or on hunting?Comment

You don't have to tell a police officer anything. You do not need any sort of license to own or legally use a firearm on a range, on private property or hunting on public land.kcstott, thanks for links! I'm read them completely for couple days.

Don't sniff, please. I from such country where it is possible to take in 18 years in hand of AK-74M or SVD or AGS-17 and to go to kill Chechens and you for it will be nothing. But if at your home find ANY cartridge from the unregistered weapon at you, you will go to prison for two years.Comment

I believe his apprehensiveness stems from our anti-2A and crooked politician wariness. We have to deal with backlash from people that like to think with clouded emotions rather then logic. We also face constant scrutinization by state and federal government since we work with something heavily regulated.Don't sniff, please. We have to be careful. We educate ourselves well to protect us from many fronts to preserve what rights we fight for.Anyway...here's a dearth of reasoning to ponder: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Guns

Registration only leads to confiscation, proven more times than not...
Welcome to pseudo-Liberty. Firearm Liberty can be found in greater amounts in less pinko-states, like AZ, and TX, well actually in most states that don't have most of their boarders touching an ocean.

Welcome to United States. I found your country is fascinating, so it's perfectly legal to kill Chechens but if you got unregistered firearm you will go to jail.Don't sniff, please.
