    texturing cast aluminum?

    Howdy,

I have a new STI aluminum grip coming for an STI VIP, and I wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to texture it a bit. I'm not looking for actual checkering, but something like minor stippling if that's at all possible without putting too much heat or work into it. The last thing I want to do is work-harden the material before it's even shot with. Any recommendations?

That's what my gunsmith said... I was hoping for another option.

Would a spring loaded center punch work as well?

One. Get someone else to do it for you. $$$$$$

Two. No a spring loaded punch will be slower.

Pneumatic needle sccaler would do it I bet. Grind the end of the needles to your preffered texture.

This sounds like a good idea depending on the scaler. I'll see if I have any friends with one. I would have had the gunsmith working on the gun finish the job with the texturing, but he's backed up with a considerable amount of work and don't feel like waiting much longer.

Grind little skulls and zombies into the ends of all the needles...
