    If you plan on doing this more than once there are some good, simple designs for home-built heat treating ovens on-line. The one I was considering uses a PID controller, thermocouple, fire bricks (good up to 1600*), and a electric heating element (either COTS or a coil of resistive wire).

    I am oversimplifying a little but it did look doable for the home shop.
