You need a completely new upper.
The WSSM barrel extension, receiver, bolt, barrel and maybe the carrier are all different.
You can't simply buy a new barrel and bolt and assemble a WSSM with standard AR-15 components.

I don't think you can make a .22 Winchester Stupid Short Magnum out of an AR15 platform.

You will have to go to an AR10 platform and then there will be many more options/calibers available that will be better to utilize for your wants.

You have to go WSSM not WSM for the AR15 lowers. The WSM cartridges are 308 length and require an AR10 length lower.

WSM have not been successfully made to run in mass produced 308 sized uppers.
DPMS tried and then stopped.
The RSAUM are a little shorter and could work, but will have similar gas pressure issues that plagued the WSM attempts...
