How far should the muzzle of my 20" 308 super match barrel be recessed inside the jp brake muzzle brake? I installed it and its currently sitting just under .50". Should I remove some material off the rear of the brake to bring the muzzle almost flush with the start of the brake? Maybe I'm over thinking this but seems as though haveing the muzzle recessed that far in would create some bad tubulence. The brake is threaded all the way to the first "chamber" area. did JP time your brake so there is no need for a crush washer or jam nut?

I'm doing it myself. Used a crush washer. I think I just might take it off and remove some material though. I've got a mini mill so might as well put it to use. Seems like if the set back was about 3/16 that would be about right. A half inch just looks like to much but want some good opinions first.

On a JP tactical brake installation, the threads should end about 1/4" behind the rear edge of the rear port.
That gives the proper blast cone angle from the muzzle to the first baffle.

When I meaure my JP barrel that came from them with the comp installed as a kit, the setback from the rearmost edge of the cutouts to the face of the muzzle is about 0.285"

Awsome guys! Thank you! Last night I removed about .25" of material with my mini mill and finished off by hand with a file. Did a rough measure ment and came up just shy of .25" from muzzle to opening of first port. Skipping a crush washer this time. Repainted the brake and going to intall it for good (hopefully) today after work. Ill make sure to check alignment and throw lock tite on there. Thanks again, especialy stick for the picture.

It is nice. Down side is you do get what you pay for - its from harbor frieght. I'm interested to hear how yours shoots aswell. Will be interesting to see the diference in the two. One being assembled by jp and the other by some amature in his garage with a harbor frieght mill! Still waitting on a rockethub crowd funding company to come through on the lower.

I know some that have gone that route (RH), took a while to get, but they did get in the end..

Took it out this weekend and shot a bit yesterday and today. The gun shoots great, today, the guy behind the trigger, not so well... LOL

Here is a target from one of my test strings yesterday. Sent about 25rds downrange, but had a bit of an issue with my trigger, didn't loctite the sear engagement screw when I set it up and that came back to haunt me... a double tap after about 30rds yesterday brought me to a halt til I could get back and reset and loctite everything last night. Went back this afternoon to finish out the string of test loads with no issues.
