    80% ar15 lower

Hello, been thinking about buying a polymer lower since I don't own a drill press. I was wondering if it worth it and which one?...so many companies out there making polymer lowers. Has anyone made a good ar15 with a polymer lower?

the failures in polymers have deterred me from them. I have never owned one nor do i plan on owning one. I have seen many post about them fracturing near the buffer tube due to the stress of the bolt reciprocating.

rent a drill press or make friends with someone who has one.

My nephew made one (Polymer80) at my house a couple weeks ago. He used my drill press. I though it went well - fairly easy though not fast (for the inexperienced, careful builder). The kit comes with a jig and bits
We shot about 100 rounds through it right after completion. No issues so far

So are the parts easy to find to finish the build, seen a few place that sell them online, not sure if they will ship them to me?

80%arms has released a jig for their 80% pieces that uses a router instead of a mill or drill press. Another avenue to consider.

So do you just use a dremel?

I would only use a dremel if you can manually set the speed. Too fast and it will melt the plastic. I've seen one done with an air grinder with a side cut bit regulated to 40 psi. It can be done without a jig. Just take you time. Hardest part is making sure the selector and trigger holes are square.

limited tooling? and want alum ? maybe try a KT15B

not sure why no one makes these other then KT Ord(never seem to have them instock only "pre-order) seem like a easier way to finish a AR, have thought about messing around with CAD and have one made but never have gotten the time .....
