Help me fix a Surefire G2 flashlgiht

Got this light as part of a trade. However, the tailcap switch doesn't work properly. It doesn't click right. It just feels stuck. When I press the switch it doesn't seem to move. I have a pic of the tailcap switch broken down to its parts. Anybody know how to properly put it together so the switch works as its supposed to??? Thanks in Advance:

that tailcap isn't a click-type switch. it is a spring-loaded momentary switch and if you fully screw in the tailcap, it is constant ON.

OK, looking at a couple candlepowerforum threads, http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...urefire+switch
and http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...ad.php?t=83844, it appears that you would insert the rubber boot and the plastic button into the housing and then install the threaded retaining ring. Then, insert the aluminum piece in with the spring side away from the button/boot. Insert the rivet through the aluminum piece into the plastic button. INstall the spring and you should be done.

This is correct. The G2 does not have a click-on switch. It is only a momentary on switch. The click-on switch can be purchase on MidwayUSA.com.

If you truly have an issue with a click-on switch I know from personal experience (bad L4 click switch) that they will send you a new one for free. Just give them a call.

Yeah, Surefire has a great reputation for customer support.

There are 2 versions of the G2 tailcap. Newer ones have a lockout position when you unscrew it about a turn and a half. The older ones don't lockout, and you can unscrew them until they're ready to fall off and still get the light to come on.

So, if you screw yours down tight, the light should be on. Unscrew it a quarter or half turn, and the light should go out, and only come on when you push the tailcap. If it's the lockout version, unscrew it further, and it shouldn't come on at all.

If it doesn't work like that, call Surefire and they'll tell you what to do.

And if the light doesn't come on as described above, check the batteries and then the bulb.

Not a problem. My mistake for thinking it was broken . Now that I actually know how it works and how to turn it on, I like it. It was good trading with you. Thanks for the good deal.
